    Home Theater

What is it?

The Home Theater (Home Theater) is to recreate a movie house type sound. For this, we have several speakers and a decoding system. This helps when looking for video sources appropriate to have a real sense of relief printing sound. Video sources to obtain a good quality sound in the movies are becoming more numerous and less costly system.

The term literally means home theater home cinema. It is sometimes translated as "home theater, the model of the English word. In France, the General Commission on Terminology and Neologisms proposed using the contraction "Cinedom.

In carrying out the installation of this type typically used the best quality audio and video:

- Amplifier (stereo, Dolby Digital, SC Concept, DTS, SDDS, Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Pro Logic 2)

- Satellites 2.1, 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 ... :

- Two front speakers for ambience and music

- A central forum for dialogue

- Two side speakers and two rear speakers for surround effects (eg Dolby Surround)

- A subwoofer (subwoofer) to support infrastructure bass and sometimes serious-as a whole, is replaced with a sound bar.

To make the matter clearer, we will analyze the different techniques used in this system:
- Sound STEREO:
Sound is transmitted through two channels, left and right.
This is a small improvement. The space is divided only on the front, without giving the impression of depth.

Dolby Surround Pro Logic (I-DPL)
Invented by Jim Fosgate and sold to Dolby Laboratories was the first process that can give depth to the scene. The sound is divided into 4 tracks: front left, center, front right and 2 "surrounds" rear, 1 left and right. The surrounds are identical. Multiple sources: NICAM TV, satellite, cable, DSL, VCR, DVD, Freeview, ...

Dolby Digital (SD)
Invented by Dolby Laboratories, this method consists of 6 audio channels (5 +1): left front, center, front right, rear left, rear right "over" 1 channel for sub-bass. The back channels "Surround" are different and restore the entire sound spectrum. Sources: cable, satellite, ADSL, DVD, BD.
Listening to the Dolby Digital sound is really impressive. The blast literally shook us and we were under the head while trying to dodge bullets mage past our ears ...

DIGITAL THEATER SYSTEMS (DTS)
This process is due to the Digital Theater Systems Inc. and distributed sound on 6 channels (5 +1), such as Dolby Digital, but the sound is less compressed and digital processing is different. Sources: DVD, BD.
Play is really spectacular! Hard to say which system to choose between DD and DTS ...

Dolby Surround Pro Logic II (DPL II)
Also invented by Jim Fosgate and sold to Dolby Labs, this new method works on the same principles as the DD and DTS, but with a different signal processing (one of only 2 lanes). The advantage of Dolby Surround Pro Logic II is working with the same sources as the RDP-I.
